You say you know what OCing is, yet you tell people that overclocking this chip past a certain point... did you forget where youre at?

If its a new core design then I'm completely wrong. My research indicates it is merely a new Athlon. Not a core redesign.
The article clearly says its based on Phenom architecture...

It's a 65nm chip. Low energy. They should both OC to the same levels. Wouldn't you rather work hard for a 100 Mhz OC (you wont hit over 3.2) than a 500 Mhz overclock?

This thing OCs easier for less money.
What do you mean I can't hit over 3.2Ghz with my CPU?

I got it higher, but it wasn't stable enough to run 3DM.

Also, as other people have said these are faster clock for clock than Brisbane/Windsor.

The Athlon 6000+ is cheaper... 65nm... low energy... 3.1 Ghz. Not 3.0 Ghz. Will easily OC to 3.2 Ghz.
.
Thing is, this thing DOES perform better clock for clock

K10 wasn't a big improvement over K8 but it's still an improvement

?????

3.5 Ghz on a windsor???? Are you serious? Oh my god! I thought no Athlon X2 made is over 3.2. Everyone on OCN has a brisbane at 3 or 3.1 or 3.2.

I had even read threads in the past calling anyone who claimed to have an athlon over 3.2 a liar. Was your massive OC easily done?

Over 3.2 is possible

Most people just don't do it because it usually requires pretty high voltage/very good cooling/both

3.5 on a Windsor is easy.

I've been able to boot at 3.4 on my Brisbane. It wasn't very stable, but still.

It took me 2 days (5-6hr both days) to finally get it stable, so call it easy if you want. I was originally shooting for 3.6, but even with 1.62v I couldn't get it and since I was on air, I backed off.

Guys, keep in mind this is a performance forum.

This new processor that AMD is putting out looks like a very fun processor. I can't wait to play around with one of these.

Are you bottlenecking your graphics cards?
