[INQ] MSI Wind blows away last OSX hurdle - Page 2

Here is proof...

I bought my WIND about a week ago and now have a full functioning OS X Mini Macbook. Its the best investment that I have made in a very long time. Oh, and as for performance, it runs BETTER than XP. Shut down, boot, and overall performance is top-notch and runs like a champ. There were some bugs but now everything works, WIFI, webcam, headphones... everything. If anyone has any questions let me know!

Last time I checked, Vista ran on a single-core Pentium 4 just fine as well. Leopard actually needs 2GB to run well, which is the same amount that most people recommend for Vista. I don't see how you can justify Vista as being a ton more power-hungry than Leopard.

There you have it. OS X is MUCH less of a resource hog than Vista and it honestly runs like it was designed for the Wind. I had access to a brand new Acer Aspire One Netbook with Factory installed XP and my Wind with OS X booted faster than XP. I have 2GB of RAM installed and OS X runs like a champ.

Look, Im not trying to start something but I actually owned a macbook pro with 1ghz G4 and 512mb memory that ran Leopard just as good and even better in most cases than tiger or panther. Im not saying vista cannot run on slower machines, I just installed vista on a 2.8ghz P4 with 1gb RAM and it works great. I am simply saying it struggles a bit with older hardware. There is nothing wrong with that, its just an OS for newer systems. A buddy of mine has vista running on a 1.2ghz 512mb RAM laptop and its a bit slugish.

PS. Just to be clear, I cannot stand apple i do however have to give them props for a great OS. I wont use it anymore because its so nitpicky about its hardware but its pretty streamlined. Maybe its not Linux streamline but its a good balance between features, size, polish and speed.

/want a wind.

oh. and all this bashing of vista and leopard...
how come leopard runs fine on G3 imacs with 512 RAM?
but no pentium 4 of equivalency can even graze vista without turning everything off
let alone with 512 megs of ram.

mac OS is a very very nicely made OS
windows isnt
that is well known, but there are advantages to windows. that is undeniable.

I have a question: can you install 10.5.6 which just came out today? What do you have to do to install updates?

Last time I TRIED, no.

OSX runs OK on 512MB, well on 1GB, and even better on 2GB. vista sucks on 512MB, is ok with minor hangups on 1GB, and good on 2GB.

Having used both OSs for desktop use, I say through experience that OSX is much less of a resource hog than vista (and no, I'm not talking about superfetch precaching).
