But its not like the gtx280 is a bad card, not at all. It's still a great card, and does well as you can see in the benchmarks. You should be happy with it, it will offer great performance for quite a while to come! Something newer and better always comes out, I paid for my second 4850 512mb a day before I saw these benchmarks and the performance increase (with the new drivers).

UPS 3 Day is $9.39, cheapest one on the list. Unless they offered shipping for free a few days ago, but as of now (5:00AM Monday Dec. 16th, 2008) there is no free shipping.

But to add one thing, if you have a newegg card you get 90 days no interest with Bill Me Later. Let me say I bought my parts with the card for a year of no interest and it is lovely to have a flex period. So in three months your card will cost you under 100 dollars per month. If you can manage that then you're good to go.

Also build your credit score to eventually buy a house to store that computer sporting your 4850X2. Just a thought.

This is OT and I am in no way trying to start a flame war, but all of my problems dissapeared when I ditched my E7200 and Gigabyte P35 and got a Biostar mobo and AMD CPU.

Different strokes for different folks. It was just kind of crazy because it was the exact opposite, so I couldn't resist comment.

That said, to be at least partially on topic, I HATE HATE HATE crossfire after the nightmare I went through with 4850's and Vista 64. It was not my first multi-gpu setup nor my first crossfire setup, and it was one of the most infuriating experiences I've ever had. I sold both cards and never was able to get them working with any driver version, fresh windows install, or any other trick I could find to try. Evidently from googling I am only one amongst quite a lot of people that have had the same problem.

And this is the reason that:

1) I won't go ATI, and
2) I still like my GTX 280 over a pair of weaker GPUs that can equal it in power when in xfire.

With a single GPU none of those problems happen. Even SLI was a pain when i used to run it.

I am under the notion that a 4850 X2 works a lot better than 2x 4850s in CF. Can anyone back me up on this? Atleast this benchmark shows it's doing very well for a very reasonable price.

The Radeon series has it all wrapped up this time around. 2 cards nVidia can't touch. Good stuff for AMD.
