well if i dont go for sli, then i will have to end up changing my gfx card in a few months and i guess that might end up being more costly in the long run .. dont u agree ?

and could some1 please tell me why the E8400 is considered to be better than the Q6600 ?

The E8400 is better for gaming at the moment. because most games don't take advantage of 4 cores, and the E8400 can get pretty high clocks of up to 4ghz, which should man there is little to no bottleneck.
I'm always of the opinion that one good card is better than two poorer ones, but having an SLi board does mean you can cheaply upgrade to another 8800GT if need be. But Sli won't be taken advantage of fully at the screen resolution you are using.

yikes !!!
so please suggest what exactly i should do ..
the thing is, my bro is going to arrange for the finance for these upgrades,
and he has made up his mind.. he want something that we wont be upgrading for next 2 years atleast.. and i was under the impression that having sli would mean that my gfx would be able to run even the latest games with max setting and AA.. :s

Well, another 8800GT will be the best improvement in most games, But if you get a new CPU, you should really upgrade the mobo as the 965 chipset is not very good for overclocking (and may not support an E8400).

yeah that i will .. that mobo wont support.. so i will have to upgrade the mobo as well ..
the sli will mostly have to wait a month or so ..

but i just hope that this rig will be able to play games at good settings for another year .. year and a half
