Simple Batch Script

post #1 of 17
Thread Starter
Hey all,

I need to run weekly reports from multiple websites. Is there a way to run a batch script that would open all of my URL's in separate windows all at once? It's the same URL for each report, but it will have different data each week. I've tried below, but the next URL won't open until I close the original one.

Code:
"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\IEXPLORE.EXE" www.google.com
"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\IEXPLORE.EXE" www.msn.com
"C:\\Program Files\\Internet Explorer\\IEXPLORE.EXE" www.yahoo.com

Another option is that Internet explorer will open multiple home pages upon launch, you could simply open internet explorer and all pages would open at the same time if you add them into your internet options but they would be in separate tabs as opposed to separate windows.
Or use this in your batch file with the url's you want:
start "~\\iexplore.exe" "h11p://www.google.ca"
start "~\\iexplore.exe" "h11p://www.yahoo.com"
start "~\\iexplore.exe" "h11p://www.overclock.net"

i think this is pretty cool, after doing some googling. its not mine, but i thought it'd help if you use firefox.

Code:
@ECHO OFF
REM Opens multiple tabs for firefox
REM For some sites it might be possible to append parameters like
REM www.website.com?username=<username>&password=<password>
SET BROWSER=firefox.exe
SET WAIT_TIME=2
START %BROWSER% -new-tab "mail.yahoo.com"
@ping 127.0.0.1 -n %WAIT_TIME% -w 1000 > nul
START %BROWSER% -new-tab "www.msn.com"
START %BROWSER% -new-tab "www.yahoo.com"
START %BROWSER% -new-tab "www.google.com"
it opens everything you need up in one browser with multiple tabs!

Ahhhhhh, the script works great, but it doesn't like the link. There's a %5 in the link and the cmd prompt doesn't like it. Anyone know how to make it work? Quotes doesn't fix it.

No, the script itself works great. The problem is the link I'm trying to use in the script. The %5 in the middle of the link is screwing it up. I know it's some piece of HTML code, but I'm not sure what it is. Google can't see the % so I can't search it.

Code:
@ECHO OFF
REM Opens multiple tabs for firefox

Muahahahahahaha! Got It!

So what was messing me up was I opened the original link in IE6 which doesn't like certain characters so it converts them to a HEX code. "%5F" = "_". I just replaced the "%5F" with an underscore in FF and voilÃ* it's working beautifully.

Thanx guys!
