If the board was shipped without that plastic cover that goes over the socket, then its the sellers fault. All manufacturers ship 775 boards with that plastic piece over the socket for a reason.

yeah you need to contact the seller and arrange a refund or replacement as that damage occurred during shipping, but as previously stated, if shipped without that plastic cover, that is directly the sellers fault, and USPS if they know anything about PC parts, will tell you to contact the seller. TRUE, that the box shouldnt be damaged regardless of how the seller shipped it, but in this case, if the seller placed that plastic cover, chances are the board would have arrived working.

Shipping without the protective socket cover has already been adressed. Just know that it isn't a total loss. Manufacturers will repair the socket for a small fee. ASUS charges $25 and state that the charge will go to the owner for any board sent into RMA without the socket cover, resulting in damage. So you and the seller should be able to work something out.

On that note, I'm working on a shipping guide that will keep these things from happening. I've received sensitive electronic components wrapped in plastic shopping bags filled with packaging peanuts from an OCN purchase in the past, so this is in no way an isolated incident.

If it was shipped without proper care, is the Seller's fault even tho it was damaged by the company that shipped it. Same happened with a laptop I bought from a member here, he didn't pack it well enough and it got hit during the Shipping, I sent pictures of how it came to the Seller and he nicely refunded money. So I don't think this is your fault and you should get your money refunded.

I would at least attempt to correct the problem with a mechanical pencil or something. if you cant get it, contact the seller and get your money back. as a last resort, call up xfx, and tell them your situation.

Agreed, we should have some sort of shipping criteria. Although, MOST OCN'rs will bend over backwards to make sure no other member feels screwed - at least the true OCN'rs
