ATI 4870 512MB - What's the problem

hi, ok so I have this GFX card. Problem is it does not give ANY digital output? it does seem to output analogue visuals (so I can get into BIOS with it). so basically Sapphire will not RMA it. Because my reseller has gone bust. So I need some sort of solution to this. BIOS fro GFX cards?? could I put a bios for it onto CD? if so how would I do this? any other suggestions/Questions? Oh and the fan does spin and such so yeah IDK what is wrong with it.

it's probably not the BIOS did you just buy this card and plug it in...or did it just start doing this.

Make sure you power plugs to the card are plugged in. Reseat the video card. If you have a spare computer try plugging it into that computer. Otherwise you are SOL lol. Sucks they won't RMA.

Good luck.

This was on Sapphire and ATI forums:

HD4870 LEDs

D1601 - Red LED On, shows critical temperature fault

D1602 - Red LED On, shows External power connector A was removed

D1603 - Red LED On, shows External power connector B was removed

D601 - Red LED On, shows critical Core power fault

Hopefully no LEDs are lit?

VERY useful post. Rep + but also there is no red OR green lights at all, still the fan is going.

yo guys, well i put the card in my dads computer. got it all working!!!! so problem solved (not quite) this proves the card does work fine but... does also mean it doesnt work with my mobo?!?!?!? so new computer build in the new year...

Funny thing(relating to my dads comp). Ok so I put in the graphics card only to find it doesnt have a 6pin power (or two as we need) and so I look at it. and even WITH the four pin to 6pin power adapters I had to remove his second HDD AND his CD/DVD drive... lol awsome PSU huh
