q6600 4.0Ghz on air... so close!!!

Thread Starter
Just as the title says, i'm soo close to 4Ghz on air. I am just having a little trouble posting after the window load screen.

This is the last config. I've tried.

FSB Linked/Synced 1807/903.4

Memory timings
5-5-5-15-2T

CPU Core: 1.5v
CPU FSB: 1.4v
Memory: 2.1v
nForce SSP: 1.45v
nForce MCP: 1.65v
HT nForce SSP <-> MCP: 1.4v

GTLVREF's on Auto

It seems my FSB hole is between 3.6 and 4.02.
I'm able to stabilize @ 1600 unlinked 1066 with vcore @ 1.35.

I've dropped the vcore down a bit to 1.45 on a few runs.

I've tried unlinking the ram and manually setting it to 1066 but no post. I've even clocked the ram down to 645 and was almost to my desktop.

I've pencil modded the board which I might need to do again, and recently flashed the bios to P08.

The last 3 BSOD's I've had were

BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER
MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Any suggestions? I've read through the guides, but I think I might be forgetting something.

how many MHz is your ram running at?? if only stock lower it, up the NB to its highest notch and play with the vcore more. After that that is all i can think of.

My ram is at 903, but it is rated at 1066. NB is the highest safe voltage it can go and the vcore is also at the highest safe voltage. I've been tweaking it here and there, but not really coming up with much.

Completely different BSODs on each boot usually indicates the northbridge is the problem. Try tuning the northbridge GTL reference. (But it still could be the CPU.) Your RAM is fine linked and synced; that's probably the only way it will run at that high an FSB.

Which is the NB GTLREF? I've read through the guide on here on evga forums on gtlref but not too sure on how to tweak it to get desirable results, much less for NB.

It's nice to see a new member so brave. Hopefully you don't fry your chip, but good luck! I'm sure you'll get there soon.

You want the NVIDIA Overclocking Guide.

I looked through the guide, but i didn't see anything about NB GTL Reference. I'm assuming it's the GTLREF Lanes I would adjust?
