Hi Guys,

This is my first post...

Just got hands on my new system and im loving it.

Processor
Intel Core i7-940 (2.93Ghz, 8MB Cache)

Memory
3GB DDR3 Triple Channel 1333Mhz Ram
Memory Slot: 6 x DIMM

Hard Drive
1TB (1x1TB) SATA300 Hard Drive

Optical Drive
BD Rom, HD Rom, DVDRW

Software
Operating System: Microsoft Vista Premium

Graphics
2 x nVIDIA® GeForce GTX260 896MB DDR3 Graphics Cards

Power
880W Power Supply Unit

The question i have is this, if i have a half decent PC already is it best to keep that for internet useage, and keep my new machine free from the net?

Im only suggesting it as im sick of all the crap that gets downloaded via windows etc and slugs things a lot.

Any updates i could transfer from PC to PC.

Im not sure... anyone else do the same?

Cheeer guys

I would say have it connected to the internet just for updates, but don't use internet explorer or anything. If anything, I would get mcafee but that's just my favorite.

Well, I don't see a problem if you have a good Anti-Virus software, and no, why limit the potential of your new rig by not connecting it to the net?

Yeah i know exactly what your saying, just with past systems the net has caused more problems, not virus' etc, just windows updates that seemed to slow things down. Just had a vision of keeping this system 'pure'!

Updates etc are obviously important too though so suppose its outweighed.

Well I would still recommend connecting it to the net, updates are meant to speed things up, fix bugs, etc. However, I understand your concern there isn't a reason in mind why I wouldn't connect to the net but then again it all may be personal preference or security. If window's updates are your main concern then disable updates.

Well, keep the old one for things you need (school/work) and use this PC online. Just get a backup drive and put your files on that. Then reformat your windows drive whenever it is getting slow. I do a LOT of things online and almost never have to do this though. Just keep backups, then when things get slow just wipe and start fresh! How can you have that beast of a PC and not pwn n00bs online with it
