Fallout 3 on an old agp ATI 9600pro possible? - Page 2

I plan to try it on my X800. If I recall it says it requires a SM 3.0 Card. Never stopped me before..

Theres oldfallout3 in development replacing all the shaders and using some SM 3.0 emulation is going to rape your cpu.

Do you have a link to the site that's got the info on the SM 3.0 Emu? I'm keen to watch how it develops.

it won't run.

i had to use SM2 hacks to get the game to launch on my X600, and even then when i tried to start a new game it crashed. i had to buy a 3450 to play...

http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/lo...p?t897841.html is where you'll get the stuff

No friggen way bro , I still have a 9800 Pro and that smokes your 9600 and it wont even touch the 6800 GT I still have that cry's at the orig oblivion. X1950 which I also have or 7600 + card is going to be my reccomended min. The engine is not complex but the textures and shaders are real nice looking and bog out those old systems cards.

I don't really see how shader model 3.0 emulation would work on a sm 2.0 card. Since most programs emulate lesser hardware on more powerful hardware, its hard to see how you could emulate something faster on something thats slower.

The Fallback project does look promising. Still has a long way to go, especially with it crashing with certain actions and the pipboy tab issue would drive me nuts. Worse still is the head issue, with it looking like it's been snapped to the side. Still it's early days, and looking at it's history it's come a long way since this was 1st begun. The 9600 may have just a faint bit of life still yet to give....geez imagine if I considered using the old Ti4200. lol
