What is max temp?

Thread Starter
Hey, in the process of overclocking my core i7 920 its at 3.9ghz now, i was just wondering when i should stop increasing voltages/bclk because of its temperature. On load i am getting around 68-70 degrees celcius and i was wondering if i push it a bit further, will it get too hot? and what should be around the max for this cpu? thanks.

I dont know anything about i7's, BUT i will say you are already just over the max "Safe" temp i would trust for a (Core 2) CPU.

Under "PC Health Status" in BIOS

"CPU Smart Fan Control" disable this and your CPU fan will run at full speed 24/7.

and yes that is too hot for an i7..

Other than that...if its running the fastest it can go ...get a higher CFM fan.

I would be more worried about the longevity of my sexy new i7 at high voltages.

Try a speedfan -program for controlling the fan speeds and as you already heard, it's too hot for it.
