Christmas Upgrade - $100-$150 - Page 3

I say either go with a new case (like you said, one that'll let you watercool easily later) or a new motherboard. If you got a 750i FTW or 780i (pretty much identical), you could upgrade your video card later on simply by buying a second one.

Edit: OR....for $150 you could manage to put together a great HTPC - 780G mobo, AMD x2 4800+, 2x1GB ram, Seasonic 300W PSU. Then you can donate one of your 5 hard drives to it, and buy it a cheap $20-$30 case.

NewEgg has gift cards you can buy. Just ask her for a gift card. You can't buy much with only $100-$130. But if you had a gift card, you could make a little money along with your gift card and buy something more expensive easily.

My followers are right. In all seriousness, you could get a decent Full Tower: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811166004 With watercooling, this case will end up serving you pretty well, I think. Then you could get you a nice PSU like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817152036 You are looking at $150. If she got you a gift card to newegg, you could definately be hooked up for ANY future upgrades you want! Like a system to dstroy the competition:::

Screw the case. I can sell my 9800GTX+ and buy it later.

P5K-E has ICH9-R which means onboard raid. No reason to buy a $130 raid card, which btw is PCI-X (don't have).

I'm actually only using just the 320 right now because the IDE cable restricts my 9800GTX+ fan intake.

As for programming, mostly C, C#, with some Java, Python, and ARM assembly mixed in.

sell your 9800GTX+ for around $100 get 4 more GB of RAM and get a HD4870.

I'm actually probably going to get the 4870 on NCIX right now, then worry about selling my 9800GTX+.

And I'm definitely not getting more ram. 4GB is more than enough.

My step up expired 2 weeks ago. Its too bad though because it would cost me around $120 + shipping to step up to a Core 216 now
