Which RAID0 Array Would Be Faster for Benches

Thread Starter
I am building a pure overclocking/benchmarking rig and am wondering if 2 WD 640GB AAKS drives in RAID0 would be better than two OCZ Solid 30GB SSD's.

I am not worried about storage space because all it needs room for is Windows plus whatever benchmark I am running. I am leaning towards the AAKS drives but am not 100% sure

get two velociraptors and they would beat both.

although i'm not sure how Hd's would affect the benchmarking, like oc and graphiics-wise

Go for the 2 OCZ SSD in RAID 0.

Two SSD's would be better, but I think it will only affect load times.

I am looking for every 3dmark06 point but am not sure how that plays into scores
Not trying to spend more than $200, I am up to around $600 on processors alone

Ehh maybe but the two SSD's are the same exact price as the 2 AAKS drives

ssd are good, but the best would be the 2 ssd with an inter raid controller. you need cashe for those ssd if you want them to run at their full potential. If you don't buy the raid controller, they will still outperform 2 velociraptors, but this controller would do wonders. On a budge, and i use the word budget loosely because it is the least expensive quality controller, the best raid controller is the adaptec 2405, it has 128 mb of cashe. If you can afford better, go with a adaptec which has 256 mb of cashe.

either way for for 2 ssd, but if you have the money think about the controller. Also i would suggest a raid 5 or 6, in a raid 0 these drives tend to fail. this way if one fails, you can send it back through the warranty and pop the new one back into your system with no problems.

Yeah, I would go for the SSDs.
