Ideal Conditions for Painting?

Thread Starter
What are the ideal conditions for painting with spray can primer, base, and clear coat enamel? For duplicolor and for krylon? Humidity, Temperature, and Wind would be nice if possible. Thanks.

Dust free, away from little critters and bugs that like to climb on bright freshly painted objects and trap themselves.

60-90 degrees F, not much more than70% relative humidity i'd say. If the humidity is too high then the paint will look "cloudy" from the trapped moisture when it dries.

Other than that you can set up a spray booth with plastic tarps, or inside a garage.

It should tell you all this information though on your can of spray paint.

I would have to say indoors in an area that is very well ventilated.

Every time I tried painting outside I would get pollen and even insects on my stuff and its just a nightmare.

Below 60% humidity is the general rule, 45-50% is ideal. You get the best results when the temp is 72-75 degrees. The higher temps the solvent evaporates faster and does not give the paint as much time to flow out on the surface causing less than optimal results.

but aside from that I sort of answered this in your other thread, but the advice above is spot on
