Dilema: BenQ, Samsun, Or LG?

Thread Starter
22" for all

BenQ
BenQ E2200HD 22in 16:9 Widescreen LCD w/ DVI, HDMI, Speakers, Black

Samsung
Samsung SyncMaster 2253BW 22in Widescreen LCD w/ DVI, 2ms, Glossy Black

LG
LG Flatron W2242TQ-BF 22in Widescreen LCD w/ DVI, 2ms, Black

My plan is to use 1 of the above LCD's, for my laptop as a 2nd monitor.

My laptop is 15" ws, 8ms I think, mb 5ms. (Have to check later), with vga and hdmi out, + svideo. But no dvi out.

My main interest to use it for are,

- dvd movies,
- occasional games (see specs below, not to many current games to try)
- If I upgrade my hddvd player... to blueray, i'd like the option.
- Basically to have an alternate window for browsing, multi tasking, etc.

- I used to have 4x crt's, and figured downgrading to 1x lcd for over a year, limits me, and I have ultramon, I'd like to use it to the fullest potential.

The prices of all 3, don't matter to me. But I'd like the 5ms / 2ms better explained so that I know which is the better sense.

I like the BenQ for 1920x1080, but it has speakers I don't need... waste of space personally.

The Samsung looks nice but, I don't have a clue what the terminology for the dvi and hdmi stuff is.

I come from the era a few years back... vga was vga, svideo was svideo, RCA meant red white yellow cables, and hdmi was a cable to itself. And dvi was something different then vga.

I'd like to get the best colour wise, the best response time possible. But I don't want to choose the wrong lcd.

These are what seems maybe the best on memory express for a similar price range. If you can find better ON this site, that would be great. I live locally, and can do "in town delivery" and possibly.. get this by the end of the week. If you could help me, i'd very much appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hi,
LG always seems to get good reviews from cybershack, so i'd go with that. If you're still unsure look for a comparison or review on those screens on the net (just google it).
BenQ tend to die pretty quickly, i got alot of people winging at me that their cheap (being the key word) monitor died, yet they seem surprised. Another option i found is to ask a computer store owner what monitor he uses, ask him about it and buy one if it's any good.

id go with samsung. hands down, but ona post above. ive had my 20.1" benQ for a few years now and its been nothing but beautiful, i have never heard of one dying, then again any piece of technology possesses the potential to randomly kill itself. but yea like stated probably cheaper models will tend to crap on themselves.

i see the highest contrast ratios in Samsungs monitors, and two people i know have nothing but good feedback on their 24" and 22". but read around, chances are you wont upgrade a monitor as often as a GPU or other piece of hardware. good luck with your choice
