i havent played with memory frequency at all and have no clue how to ><. I appreciate the help, I learned ALOT so far

i found out what my problem was with OC'ing lol. I forgot to default the settings in amd overdrive when trying to oc in bios lol so i was basically trying to boot up with 3.2ghz on a phenom haha. Now it set it in bios for 2.6ghz and its stable at 39c

also i looked at some other 3dmark scored with phenom 9600 and this guy that had 4870x2 only got 12100 score

Greg, no problems. When you have time, please read over this guide. It's extremely helpful and probably more in depth then the last one. This one goes over AM2 equipment so it's a tad different then your Phenom but the same principals apply: http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ocket-am2.html. So basically what happens when you raise your reference clock (HTT), your memory frequency also goes up. In most cases this will immediantely cause instability and probably result in a freeze/crash. Most of the issues are more noticeable in Windows then at POST. When testing your processor overclock it's always wise to drop the memory divider so that the memory frequency is at a lower speed and won't cause any conflicts.

Greg, 12,000 points in 3DMark06 is pretty good. I'm only getting 10,600 with my 4850. Don't worry too much about 3DMark06...fire up a game and see how the card performs in that

well i fired up crysis warhead at enthusiast settings at 1280x1024 and my fps were between 8-15 and when i dropped settings to minimum my fps only went up 19-30
