[XS]Article & video of Phenom II X4 @ +6 GHz by Team Finland (Dragon event, Chicago) - Page 3

The reason LN2 clocks are important is because it shows the potential of the chip regardless of cooling. It's a sign of what you can get on water. Given that they only let the teams use air, then jump to LN2. I would expect speeds coming on 5GHZ on water myself.

I would really like to see a 4GHz Phenom II go against a 3.5-.8GHz Core i7 (or whatever the "max" speed on air), that would be fairly interesting...

$295 actually. Less than the S939 A64 3500+ when that came out, oddly enough.

What are these new phenoms supposed to debut at? They'd probably be a great chip around the $230 range especially if they can do 4GHz on air but last I heard they were going to be ~$285 for the lowest end.

Including mobo and ram that they need? If so point me where I can get mobo, cpu, and 3x1gb of ddr3 for $295.

Meh, its not the getting 6Ghz under LN2 that is important, its the fact that it CAN. Meaning the chip will be good for 4.5+ under good water. That is the part that is interesting about the chip and all the extreme cooling.

It was mentioned previously that these tests are decent benchmarks for how well the chip CAN be overclocked. Not how you SHOULD overclock it.

I say all the better to AMD for sticking with it when everything seems to be going against you. And especially to the guys that have the magic hands to achieve these insane overclocks! Just imagine in a couple months when we start getting some more mature boards and equipment for these chips...6.5, maybe 7ghz anyone? I think so.

Find me a phenom rig with the same performance at 295$.

AMD has always been about less performance at a lesser price. They've got nothing out yet to compete against the higher i7s. Good value, yes, but in OCN we can find good prices for higher-end hardware. Plus you're wrong about the TLB bug, there's none unlike the one AMD got.

1) Its $295 for the Processor Only, ~$250-300 for a motherboard, and ~$100 for RAM(3x1gb). My point is while the cpu may be priced are the same as phenom II, you can't use your current mobo under any conditions with i7, but many AMD motherboards will work with phenom II.
2) I didn't say anything about the TLB bug, I read the article where it said the bug was false
