Would Like Some Help Choosing a New PSU

Thread Starter
I am putting together a new rig, I have everything ready to go except my PSU. For my last computer I had a 500w and I have always gotten a PSU based on watts. However, reading around it seems that I should take more things into consideration such as the "amps". I'm completely clueless when it comes to choosing a PSU. Also I am hoping to OC my CPU and GPUs. Anyways...here is my system (ignore the one in my sig/profile)

Case: Antec 1200 w/stock fans
Mobo: EVGA 750i SLI FTW
CPU: Q6600 GO w/OCZ Vendetta 2(stock fan)
RAM: OCZ Reaper 2x2GB 1066
GPU: EVGA 9800 GT x2 in SLI
HDD: Western Digital 300GB

The PSU's I was looking at are...
1) Corsair 750w TX
2) OCZ GameXstream 700w
3) PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750w
4) Antec 650w

Or if there is something better for about $100 (all i really have :S)
Thanks
The Damned ^_^

I use this. 2) OCZ GameXstream 700w
Plenty of power, plenty of connectors with it. I've had no problems so far. The fan is fairly silent and it glows blue too.

Thanks...do I need to worry about "amps" or should I just focus on watts?

Watts are a product of volts and amps. What you probably heard was people talking about amperage on certain rails, and distribution thereof. This is not a problem on any modern power supply with a rig like yours. What you DO want to look for is reliability and the ability to deliver clean, stable power even under harsh conditions. The OCZ is not capable of doing that, at least not to my satisfaction. The Antec depends on which exact model it is, but I'd probably steer clear of it as well, given that your other two choices are superb units. The Corsair would be my choice, but there's nothing wrong with the PC Power & Cooling unit either.

You do need to worry about amps. If you have 100 amps on the +5v rail but only 10 on the +12v rail, you would have a serious problem. Also, you need clean power (power without much ripple in it) I'd suggest that you go for the Corsair 750TX or the PC Power&Cooling Silencer 750. I prefer the Corsair, because it has a 120mm fan and thus is likely to be quieter than the PCP&C. Corsair is great, I did have my 450vx in a system with an OC'ed quad, a pair of graphics cards, and a pair of HDDs.

EDIT: Beaten to a response

65nm quad can takes up to 200+w and one 9800GT is 105w so I would go for Corsair 750w TX in the list. EA650 is anther good one and egg usually has a good price for it.
