Overclock Q6600 with 680i?

Hello everyone,

I am trying to overclock my friends computer, he has a Q6600 and a EVGA 680i motherboard with the latest bios, and i carnt seem to find anything on the bios regarding overclocking his CPU, i konw the Q6600 is good for overclocking and would like to reach atlest 3Ghz on it.

3Ghz is not that hard to hit on most 680i's...just check to make sure which edition of the 680i your friend has. If it is anything other than the LT or SE, you should be able to do so simply by increasing the FSB gradually up to 1333 and adjusting Vcore as needed.

Use Choggs's link to the Essentials thread and you will find some great info on how to do it as well.

i got mines to hit 3.6ghz, update the newest bios. I'm running on sli mode. with a artic 7 cooler.. if any ? ill try to help.

After reading the the guides mentioned br3nd, go ahead and let us know some exact settings you are trying to use along with some info on your oc's stability. The guided should tell you all the differenct softwares to use when ocing. Off the top of my head you should prob get core temp, cpu-z, hwmonitor, and prime 95. With those and available bios adjustments, you should be able to get your feet wet. We'll be here to help along the way. Good luck

You can ask me all the questions you want as I successfully OC my system to 3.4ghz using the 680i BIOS.
