I'm mad. - Page 4

Get a 22". And the 9600GT 1gb is not as bad as you think it is, certainly nothing to complain that much about. When I had the 9600GT and went to the 4870, I honestly didn't see a world of difference on that CPU. At modest resolutions (even up to 1680x1050), the 9600GT is pretty good. So what if you can't max every detail and play on the highest resolutions possible? I think you're letting what other people do affect you too much. Then again, you're young and young people tend to feel inadequate easily.

When I was 14, I was getting like $10 a week haha. Definitely didn't have a decent computer like you. For a poor family, you should feel lucky to have what you have.

BTW, resolutions 1280x1024 and above all look decent. For instance, when I drop down to 1440x900 from the native 1680x1050, it's hard to see a difference.

1024x760 and below is when it starts getting muddy.

70fps at 1280x1024 is nothing to be mad/sad about at all.

I see what you mean, but me personally, if I have a 22" monitor, I always want to have the hardware to be able to run my games at the monitor's native resolution, and max as many settings as I can.

Well, we'd all like to have everything run the highest it can. But financially, it's not always possible. I used to do 1440x900 on games like Oblivion and Fallout with the 9600GT (on my 22"), and it looked more than fine. I remember in college, playing the original Unreal Tournament with a crappy card. My roommate was rocking silky smooth framerates, while I was playing on low, disabling weapon draw, and figuring out ways to make it playable (and I did...was ranked very high in that game). Never thought about complaining or asking my parents for more. Now, I have a solid job so it's different, but it's just different stages in life.

I think as computer enthusiasts, we can be a bit spoiled sometimes...some of us can't settle for anything less. I'm forcing myself to stop buying hardware for two years after I get my Deneb. Real life and debt become more important.

But for people who are 14 years old and don't work, I really think there shouldn't be too much complaining. Not like he's rocking a Celeron with an IGP.

Whatever I'll just stick with my 17". I'm happy with it so I don't need to upgrade. However after I save up and I'll get a supah l33t computer with a 24" monitor.

thanks to everyone that tried to help, I really appreciate it

When I was 16, I was running a P4 2.53Ghz, 1GB No name RAM, and a Geforce 5600XT... all tied by a Dell motherboard in a Dell case.

When I graduated HS, I got another P4 2.4, 1GB G.Skills, MSI mobo, and a radeon 9800XT (which I paid for)... That computer was a graduation gift from my uncle.

The rig I'm rocking now, I worked my ass off for. And yes, there are some things that need working, but I'm happy with it.

Be lucky that you can get such stuff in such a time.

that seems kind of low to me...from everything i've been told, a 9600GT will outperform an 8800GTS (G80). yet i hardly get anything lower than 75fps in CoD4..and i only have a 5200+, whereas you have a 6000+

Woah guys calm down. I wouldn't say I'm spoilt, instead of putting my money into a new skateboard or a xbox360, I put it in my computer. I know lots of kids that get like 300 dollars for christmas and I'm not even getting half of that and I'm happy with it.

I dunno it could be your settings mate. My cpu is only 300 MHz better than yours.

I have everything maxed out and it depends where you check the fps really. I mean in some maps I can get 60, but sometimes I get over 200.
