I think my 4870 is under performing .

Hey guys,
I think my Radeon 4870 is not as fast as it should be . I know some other people who get alot more with that card.

My cpu is core2duo 2.13Ghz running at 2.76ghz (stock fan) vcore 1.22v

Ram running at about 800 mhz <5-5-5-18>

My hard drive where windows is installed has 40% free space , original capacity is about 300GB. But i think that is irrelevant.

I really wanna get the most out of this card .. while not overclocking it yet.

In 3dmard 2006 I got 11299

Here is a pic.

3Dmark06 scores don't really matter with this card. I got the same score of 15xxx with my 8800gts 512 and my 4870, but the 4870 performs much better in games. Also having your cpu at least to 3GHz would help a little. Maybe get an aftermarket heatsink for your cpu and start overclocking some more.

your cpu speed is low,3Ghz and above should do well and 3dm06 sucks when it comes to gaming performance.

So what would u suggest as the ultimate benchmark ?

no ultimate benchmark
gta4 is really heavy on processors and it lags on 3Ghz dualies with a bit of eye candy turned up.best to go quad core for this game or clock your cpu to 3.2Ghz and above.

It's your processor. I get about the same 3dmark06 score, but when I overclock my CPU a bit, the score jumps noticeably. It means we're bottlenecked. The video card is too good for the processor, and it can't breathe freely .
