Thinking of getting a PS3....

Thread Starter
So i've had my 360 for about 2 years now, about 2 months ago I got the RRoD (had it shipped, repaired and shipped back to me in 6 days) and since then it seems to freeze randomly during some of my games. This has become quite annoying.

Also I think its totally out of order that playstation owners get online access for free, without having to fork out £49.99 for a year of XBL subscription AND pay another £60 for a wireless adapter. Im waiting to see what playstation home will be like when its finished and if it will remain free.

Probably the only thing I dont like about the PS3 is the controllers, I absolutly hate them. The analogue sticks are too close together and your thumb slips off them too easily, the "triggers" are bloody awful and the left analogue stick is in the wrong place.

So my post boils down to two questions:

1. Are there any other reasons why I should get a PS3 and sell my 360 (please, no "BECAUSE ITS BETTER" posts).

2. Are there any PS3 controllers more like the 360 one? or any adapters so I can use my 360 controller with my PS3?

1. blu ray.

2. I am sure there are aftermarket controllers for the PS3 as well that might suit your needs.

1. I love mine.. best blu-ray player on the market bar none. Has a great underhyped game selection however maybe not as good as exclusives. Online is free so no more fees there.

2. None that i know of and don't ever count on it

1) if you like 360 games, stick with your 360. I have a PS3 and love it, but I also love the games it has. so I mean its more about that. Also remember that all the good 360 games come to PC. and you can use your controller for that.

2) your kind of beat on this. I personally love the playstation controllers and hate the xbox ones...... go figure

http://benheck.com/04-14-2007/ps360-controller

if you can mod, have at it i'm thinking about doing it myself. this is to swap your ps3 controller into an xbox 360 case

http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/other/ps3ds3.htm

this is to mod your joysticks and put x360 joysticks in instead of ps3 joysticks.

i love my ps3. i can tell the difference in blu-ray movies, both video and sound. my buddy's x360 elite is alright, but i wouldn't buy it =/ (/fanboyism off)

I used to own a PS3 (sold it on here). If you like console gaming, which you apparently do, then it's worth it. The actual console is better than the 360, it's got more powerful hardware, bluetooth, blu-ray, doesn't break every 6 months etc.

As far as online goes it's another story. The 360 has far superior online play, although some would argue that it comes at a cost (money ). Also there was one other critisism about the ps3, but i forgot.

Edit: If there are 360 games you can't live without don't bother switching, it's not worth it. However there are some excellent PS3 only games you could like. *cough* mgs4 *cough* gran tourismo 5

I'm really enjoying my PS3. I think it comes down to the games you want to play. I bought the PS3 for MGS4/Socom/GT5p (and a BD player). I've played 360 games as well and enjoy them just as much (Gears 2 was great!). I found the PS3 had more value / dollar when it came down to features and add on gear that I didn't have to buy vs a 360. I really don't like paying for online access, but the service can be hit and miss (in terms of quality and availability) unlike the 360 which has great online service (mostly), I guess you get what you pay for.... HTH

Like others have said, it depends on the games you want to play. There are a lot more cross console games coming out now anyways...so.

Also--are you going to use the BR player? If so, the PS3 sounds like a sure bet to me. I'd see if you can find one of the MGS ones. I bought one like three or so months ago, and it is completely awesome. I no longer buy normal DvDs...
