F@H Bogging PC down

Thread Starter
Recently, I reformatted my pc in effort to fix some boot related issues and I ended up working those out which really made me happy.

I installed the F@H GPU again, actually a newer version [6.23] than before. The version I was using prior was [5.03].

But, With the new GPU client, it bogs my PC down like it is taking priority over all my other apps. I also do not get as good PPD as before but that is besides the point. IF I turn the CPU Usage Percent down it is not as bad but it still bogs my PC when switching between apps or listening to music or watching videos. I even notice it when I am typing. Before, I could max the CPU Usage Percent, multi-task, and even game some.

The issue is this, I like to fold 24/7 knowing that I'm helping contribute to the community. I know several people who suffer from cancer too.

Maybe I just dont know what I'm doing. Can someone help me out? Thanks alot.

right click on your folding icon in your task bar and hit configure. goto the advanced tab and set the priority to lowest. if this still doesn't work then i would recommend getting setpriority and manually setting it to the lowest setting there.

you can get setpriority here:

I got SetPriority but it does not seem to effect the issue.

Put a check mark in "Do NOT lock CPU to a single core".

This is part of the reason I stopped using it.. It'd break most of my games, and even scrolling a web page or entering text would be laggy. The biggest reason was the constant crashing, though.

Generally crashing means its unstable for one or more of a few reasons, mostly related to overclocked values or heat.

So I should set my OC settings back to default? I'm at 2.5 and I have passed a 24+ large FFT w/ my 2.7 OC.

Try that and see if it fixes it. Most likely, however, it's a problem with the GPU so try downloading Rivatuner and check the temps on the video card. If the temps are high, make sure that your video card heatsink isn't fuss of dust, and then try increasing the fan speed.
