if the computer is for gaming only go with a dual core.
also with your mobo you htt will be reduced to 2000htt, also poor ocing ability due to the north bridge frequency having no options to change it.
the quead will be faster at stock then your 4400 at stock. i dont think you will get it to 3g on your current mobo.

i thought i reccomended a black edition in one of your other threads.

its the old Phenom with the bug, slow clock speed, terrible overclocking potential on an old AM2 board so basically terrible gaming CPU but very good multitasking cpu on a smaller budget.

your better off going with the faster dual-cores. Deneb's coming around the corner but will be $250+ so i guess their out of your price range. Cheaper variants will come in Feb. Mar. so wait a little longer if you can. I would get an aftermarket cooler and oc the 4600+ as fast as you can. Otherwise, if you want gaming performance, a new HD 4830 or 8800GT/9800GT is so much better.

thanks noobdown+darkslider just was looking at some graphic cards,and decided to check over there. i updated my cpu (i got it free) now i have a 4600+ how far can i push it

by this site here, http://www.amdgeeks.net/overclockdatabase , anywere from 2.3 - 3.4 depending on the stepping. that is for a ruff idea.
