If you have the money, take the Q9550 For sure, It's true that most of the games *Nowadays* doesn't support Quad core processors, the games are being released and will be released are going to support Quad core gaming..
Also Q9550 has a better 'multitasking..'

indeed, Quad core 2 win.

Depending on how often you are looking to upgrade, I would pick up a dual core and get a bit more graphics card for the money. Once quads become mainstream for gaming the i7 is probably a better option anyway.

For the immediate future the E8500 will be better for OC and in game performance. If your going to upgrade it later(I'd say in a year or less) anyway get the E8500. Otherwise get the Q9550. The Q9550 will also benchmark higher in 3dMark06 and Vantage if that matters to you. They are both great CPU's so you really can go wrong.

if your not going to upgrade for 2 or 3 years, go with the quad. in two or three years, gaming with quads will be very useful.

Do you think that Quad won't be useful at 2009~2010 for most of the newest games?

No, they will be very useful!

"GTA IV wants a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Quad" - quoted from HardOCP and L4D can utilize Quads as well. Go for the Quad.
