Best IPS 24"+ Monitor?

Thread Starter
I am looking at monitors. Looking for 1920x1200 or 2560x1600. 24" - 30". An IPS panel is necessary!

I was looking at the Dell 2408WFP and the Dell 2709W. I wasn't sure if there is anything else of similar quality that others might know about?

Both of those Dell's are VA's, different from IPS, usually not as good, but better than TN's. I'm not up on the newest IPS', my 2007wfp's a little old and not a 24er, but someone else more informed will come around

Nice to know! Thanks! Do you know of any high quality IPS 24-30" screens that are 1920x1200 to 2560x1600. I know Dell has the 3008WFP but it is $2000.

I just wanted to bump this thread instead of creating essentially the same one again. I am in the market for a new display and after messing around with the Apple displays I wanna know if there are any comparable IPS displays (or better) under $2000. I would prefer 24" and if all else fails I suppose I could just go with the Apple display but I'd like to save $$$ if there is a comparable alternative.

It would be helpful to know the purpose of the monitor (a graphics design business? gaming? movies?) as well as the budget you're looking for.

I would say the "best ips 24" + monitor" is this $1,300 beaut, the Samsung XL24 http://salestores.com/samsun200.html It is the best one available.
For "color critical applications," it uses RGB LED backlights and makes 114% of the NTSC colour gamut. Or you could check out it's big brother, the XL30

I use the monitor primarily for CAD, Excel, and LabView.

The HP LP2475W has gotten a lot of good feedback. Check out the huge thread over at the [H]ard Forums:

http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1326971

The only thing to possibly contend with is the wide gamut color space, which may or may not need calibrating if the colors are too saturated for your tastes. Other than that, it's one of the nicest 24" IPS LCDs available here in the US. Sadly, we don't get the same choices that people get in Europe though, as we have waaaaaay too many TN based panels here and not enough VA or IPS panels like they do across the pond.
