Which monitor to buy....

Thread Starter
Hoping to get some help in making a decision here. I am torn between the following 2 monitors:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...268&Tpk=2253bw

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...80&Tpk=e2200hd

I currently have a BenQ and the quality is not bad. I was really liking the fact that this new BenQ is full 1080P. I've read the reviews and most places agree that the monitor is not bad but I know the reviews are great for the Samsung as well.

Please help....

I'd go with the samsung. Partly becuase of personal preference to the brand for LCD monitors/tv's. The other factor you should consider is that the BenQ model is only 1080p if you use an HDMI connector. If you're using this as a computer monitor, 95% chance your going to be using a DVI connection not an HDMI so your 1080p isn't being used. You could get a DVI -> HDMI converter, one came with my gtx260. But I haven't really seen them being used for a desktop application.

I can't speak for the smaller lcd but my 24" WS BenQ is fantastic. Build quality, color and brightness are all top notch to what I've seen before.

The BenQ will have more vibrant colors, but unfortunately i cant vouch for the quality of it... The Samsung is a well rounded monitor.

No! Go for the BenQ! The 1080P resolution is nothing short of amazing for a 22 incher. Believe me, I've been experiencing the same thing myself with this 23" (I was originally planning to get a 24" @1920x1200). The picture is sharp and crisp as hell.

I thought I had made up my mind after going back and looking at both but after the replies I really cant decide. I was leaning towards the Samsung after thinking about it because I was unsure of the 16x9 perspective on the BenQ. Its not as tall and wider than the Samsung. I read Anand's review of the BenQ and the 1080P works through the DVI as well, which either way doesnt matter because my VisionTek card has native HDMI. I love my current BenQ (color/quality is top notch) but I think the Samsung looks nicer.

Only other concern I have is gaming. Not sure if my HD4870 will be able to handle as nicely at 1920x1080 as it would at 1680x1050.

Dude, my crappy ol' 9600GT is able to handle most of the games I play @ 2048x1152......I say go for it and you will not regret it!
