Q6600 L810 batch - any good?

Thread Starter
Hi,

I recently returned my L804 - 1.3250 VID chip because off excessive heat levels (although really because it wouldn't clock for **** :/).
I've been checking out the boxed CPUs in my local shop, and the best one I can see (based on what people say about it), is an L810B chip. Can anyone who has one of these chips confirm that it's a low VID?

I don't think the L810x batches will OC any higher or lower than the one you've got; it's even newer than the one you purchased!

The best ones were L72xx - L73xx batches. L737B is legendary for having extremely low VIDs and extremely high OCs.

This page at XS cross-references Q6600 OCs with batch numbers.

P.S. Welcome to OCN and fill in your system specs.

Thanks, I'll fill in my specs in a min.
Btw, I'm not quite sure about newer chips having a higher VID as a friend of mine has a 1.22 VID L808, and that's newer than my 1.325 VID L804.
I'll do more searching on Google, might dig up the VID for L810.

Yep, even within batches there can be wide variations. So it's no guarantee.

Well, looks like the L810B batch is okay, found a topic on another forum where two people have bought chips from that batch, and both have a 1.2375 VID, which is good enough to hit about 3.7GHz, right?
