mATX Board Questions

Thread Starter
I am building an audiophile mATX for my son-in-law.

He will use it only for music and home theater (no gaming) and it has to be wireless.

Help me out in building this.

Thinking of:

Silverstone SG02-F(black)
Asus P5E-VM HDMI???
Do I need an e8400 or could I go with less?
Lynx AES16 or ASUS Xonar Essence STX (if the reviews are good) any other suggestions
Radeon HD 4650 - should be good??
2x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3500320NS 500GB
LG SATA Burner
Patriot Viper 4GB @6400
Zalman cnps8700

Willing to take any suggestions and abuse. Have at it!

Thanks!

Well what sort of price range are you looking at??

you could possibly go for the e5200 if you had a tight budget.

Budget is not tight so will probably go with the e8400.

thanks

An E7200 would suffice for sure. It's more powerful than the E5200, and as long as he isn't going to be playing games, the E7200/E7300 will be plenty. If you did that, then you could give him an upgrade to an Asus P5Q-EM, which is based off of the newer G45 chipset and has Express Gate.

The E7200 with the ASUS P5Q-EM would be a good choice.

The E7200 runs quite cool and does not really need an after-market CPU cooler, if you do not plan to over-clock over 3.2 GHz.

The P5Q-EM also has a convenient SPDIF digital audio output and a choice of video outputs: VGA, DVI, HDMI.

On-board video (X4500HD) works perfectly with my 20" LCD @ 1680x1050 resolution with a Vista Experience of 4.1

P5Q-EM & E7200 is my combination and I do not have any regrets...
