360 to 1900x1200 monitor

Thread Starter
I heard that microsoft released an update a while ago that let the 360 output in some monitor resolutions, was 1900x1200 one of them? I am getting a Monitor for my PC and 360 for college and I don't want to end up making the wrong choice.

I tried to check for you but since mines hooked up to a TV I couldn't get your res.

However for a while I had my 360 on a 22" monitor @ 1680x1050 and it looked great still. If that semi answers any of your questions.

i havn't heard anything wrt 1920x1200, i would give a tentative no, but i don't own a 360

EDIT: even if 1080p is the highest it can output, the monitor should be able to maintain 1-1 pixel mapping with small bars on the top and bottom

Thanks for checking, but the resolution that works for you is one that was confirmed to work. All the posts about 1900x1200 are from a year or two ago and all complain of stretching.

I'm still tinkering, I don't think I can get it to put out 1900x1200 on any displays I own.

What size display were you looking at btw?

The monitor should be able to force a 1:1 pixel mapping. It also depends on how you are connecting the devices. VGA, DVI, HDMI?

24-28" with native resolutions of either 1900x1200 or 1900x1080.

If things don't work out, I will go for the 1080 monitor

EDIT: HDMI

Depending on your monitor, some stretch the pixels to fill the entire monitor with the (technically) 1080p picture, some monitors will not scale at all and simply put the black bars on top and bottom (they will be 60 pixles each). The new update didn't add 1920x1200 support, but it did add 16:10 aspect ratio support, the highest 16:10 resolution supported is 1680x1050. This bums me out too, I am playing on a 24" 1920x1200 monitor. I have 2 of them, I use one for playing the game and one for looking up guides and walkthroughs about the game.

Yeah I use my 24" 1920x1200 display with VGA and all it does is put black bars on the top and bottom when the is in 1920x1080 mode. My monitor has a zoom/fill function, but it just looks better with the bars.

What brand do you have? Mine are Acer, which doesn't have the option to just display the picture at the 1080 height with the black bars. I don't really like it stretched, it distorts it and makes it look weird, but it still looks great nonetheless.
