Windows only recognizes 2gb, ***!

Thread Starter
Hello, I have 32bit windows xp home edition sp3, and I have 3 gb's of crucial ballistix tracer memory. Previously it always showed 3 gb's when I looked at the properties, but today I noticed it only shows 2gb's! Does anyone else have this problem? I thought it would show up to 3.2gbs for 32bit windows or something, and before it showed all 3gb's of my memory. I took out the memory and put it back in(which is a pain in the @ss because my gpu is kind of in the way) but that didn't even work, it still shows only two gigs. Please respond and help me or answer what you think the problem might be!

because of the video memory thats why its only showing 2gb

with 2 9800gt's that takes up 1gig of memory right of the maximum amount of memory that your system will recognize.

Oh, so all 3gb's are being used, but two 512 gpu's are using one gig, right? That makes sense because I just upgraded to SLI. Thank you guys! If I were to have four gigs of memory would it recognize everything but the one gig the video cards are taking up?

If that's the case, it should show 2.2GB, not a flat 2.

First go into msconfig and make sure you have the maximum memory option UNchecked.

After that, it could be a bad stick of RAM or a bad slot on the mobo. If your 2 video cards take up 1GB total (512MB each) then that leaves 3GB for RAM.

Now if you have two 1GB video cards then you're screwed and have no choice but to go 64-bit.
