Raid setup?

I have two 250 gb 7200 rpm wd and 1 x 500 gb 7200 rpm wd. Can i run a jbod raid on the 2 x 250 gb. so that i have a 500 that runs at 7200 in a jbod and a single 500 gb wd. Then run a raid 0 on the 2 x 500gb?

I would just run 2 x 250GB in raid and leave the 500GB hdd as storage, this way you can keep needed files without worry of failure.

It would just be 3 harddrives in a raid array, no need to make it more difficult.

Of course you could. Just set up the RAID for the 2 250s, and leave the 500 alone.

I don't think you can use a Raid Volume to as a Member Disk of another Volume.
And even if it works, I'm close to sure a cheap controller like your Mainboards integrated one can not do it!

Do what has been told by the others.
Use one Array of similar 250GB Disks and use the other one as Data or backup storrage.
So if the Array fails or you want to switch the Mainboard to non NV Chipüset based model you only lose the RAID Array but not the 500GB single Disk ;o)
