i highly doubt that they will get a million $ out of these people, thats just a scare tatic
they will probably end up settling on damages for a few thousand $

or they will loose and get nothing, seriously 7 songs is not that big a deal, their are allot worse people out their then teenagers sharing a few songs, yes i understand its not legal, but still they can't charge 1 million $ for such a low amount of songs shared
if it was a few thousands to millions id understand
but 7?

who do the RIAA think they are kidding, they are just trying scare tatics on people
it wont hold up in caught

Im w8ing for some1 to commit suicide because they were being sued for a million dollars. Then one of their family members sue the RIAA back for 10 million.

They're not suing him for downloading, so that point would be moot at best. The sad part is, he will be discouraged from sharing any media online out of blatant fear henceforth.

That's what you get when you try to pirate a Soulja Boy's album.

If i remember correctly, the stance the harvard team is taking is that the fines per song is too excessive, currently it is around $750 a song. Which is still a little much, 750% more than what the song is worth.

exactly. Let the punishment suit the crime. The guy deserves to be punished. thats an accepted thing. but since when does uploading 7 songs justify a freaking 1 million dollar fine?

IMO the RIAA should go after the bigger scum: the people who download the songs that this poor kid uploaded, burn em to CD's, and sell em for $5/pop.

nail the guys profiting from piracy, not just downloading / uploading a few songs.
