Hello OCN

i have a $300 AUD (can be pushed to $400 AUD) spending limit to upgrade something in my PC
i can't really decide what to upgrade

http://www.computeralliance.com.au/parts.aspx

please use this website i am Australian
and don't use any other website, i am buying from this one
thanks

can any one give me any advise on what to upgrade, should i get a nice set of speakers (currently using headphones) but am happy with that, a really big hard disk drive, new power supply, blue ray drive, graphics card etc

lots to choose from, just what would suit me best
advise please, need to make my choice ASAP
because xmas is 8 days away!

i just can't decide lol

Either get a GTX 260 Core 216 or a Radeon HD 4870. Your GPU is currently your biggest bottleneck.

would a ATI Radeon 4850 do?
GTX 260, and 4870 are $450 AUD, way outa price range
$300 limit really unless i were to spend other birthday money on it to
that id rather spend on something else

i would of gotten a 9800GT but seeing as its the same performance as the 8800GT, their is no point
and the only other graphics card around that price range is the 4850 and that outclasses my 8800GT
so its worth buying

If looking for prices in Australia use www.staticice.com.au to find the cheapest....

Maybe video card.....but i think there is some performace to be had with your ram - as it isn't running in dual channel atm.....always use pairs....eg 2*2gb and 2*1gb

yea i know that, but their is little point in getting a 2GB chip
seeing as how 32-bit software limits will only let me use 3GB
because of my Video Card thats why i got a 2GB + 1GB
(and yes i know about that site but i am using Computer Alliance)
