If there even is one or if they will have that sort of feature in the future, what will it be called etc. Thanks!

I've read that you can enable Physx with modified drivers, but I only heard this about 6 months ago.

With all of this going on, it's probably obvious to say that Microsoft doesn't want to miss out on this action, and thus DirectX 11 is the first step in a big investment by Microsoft to bring GPGPU to the API, bringing the concept of the 'Compute Shader' to Direct3D. However, first step that this is, it appears that Microsoft aren't targeting this particular iteration of DirectX as a way to take GPGPU by storm in the way that CUDA is, but rather they have continued to focus more on the gaming side of things here. It could just be the audience that they were speaking to at Gamefest (being predominantly game developers, obviously), but most of the examples given by Microsoft were of ways to use the Compute Shader to improve the gaming experience, from GPU accelerated physics and AI to image post-processing.

ATI won't have any version of PhysX on their hardware they said it can go die.

But they have to come with something in order to keep competing with Nvidia.

They've already teamed up with Havok to optimize it for AMD gpus. Havok is far more widespread than PhysX, although I do like PhysX effects better.

Its called the most biased for ATi game engine that is in a whole crap load of games.

Havok. That engine runs so much smoother on the ATi cards, opposed to Nvidia.

Source engine uses Havok, thats why.

But it does. Which is why I have ATi cards. But it leaves me at a fork in the road. I get more FPS in source games with ATi cards, but I want to fold...usually my gamer wins though. Cause of price.

Isn't Havok software-based and optimized for AMD CPUs, not ATi GPUs...?
