ok , sorry , i just thought HD4850 would be a better buy but if he wants nvidia let him have it

Nope not a better buy compared to the GTX+ especially considering the prices are about the same maybe 10 to 20 more. But you get what you pay for.... reliable drivers and not having to have a hot fix everytime a new game comes out

you need to get a 22" - 24" WideScreen LCD

the bottleneck of your system i believe is the LCD
i used to own a 19" and am so happy that i upgraded to a 22" WideScreen

so buy the LCD before upgrading

don't waste money on a new quad cpu, just get a low-mid range core 2 cpu
e8400, e8500, simply because core i7 is out now, and most of the quad lineup is going to be discontinued, so you might as well just save the cash and buy a core 2 duo cpu and hold out till you have enough cash to get a i7

you can't upgrade your GPU till you get a new LCD and a New CPU because it would be bottlenecked,

and it would be like chucking $200-$300 (AUD) down the drain

so my advise: upgrade CPU, and LCD first then the GPU
or keep to you're current system
and hold out till you can get i7

otherwise you wont see any improvement over the 8600GT, mainly due to the CPU
agreed.. Thankyou
I'll get E8400 and I'll check about LCD upgrade

I strongly disagree. With the release of the new i7 processors all of the previous quad cores have plummeted in price. You can get a Q6600 for the same price as an E8500 and only $20 more than a E8400. Yes, the quad's clock is a bit lower than the duo, but the Q6600 has massive overclocking capabilities and is superior in every other way. The time of the dual core is over, quads can be had now for almost the same price and a massive performance increase.
