I was wondering what you guys think, is this a good start for an e8600 and striker ii extreme board? I'm looking to just cool the northbridge and cpu for now. It seems like a good price and place to start.

it would work great for you... but are you going to get an NB block or is there one already on your board? if there is one already.. what is it made of?

It already has one built on, the stiker II extreme comes that way. it is a dtek fusion type cooler i believe.

Upgrade to at least medium fans - they aren't much louder and give you an extra couple CFM

I'm pretty sure the fusion block(NOT D-Tek) has 3/8" barbs, so make sure you get 3/8"
tubing once you verify the size of the barbs.

EDIT: Yes, it is 3/8".

Good idea. the case and cooling system will be under a desk. Probably wouldn't hurt.

ok, 7/16" ID tubing won't fit over? clamps should keep it secure?

7/16" would slide right over the barbs, I wouldn't trust it at all. You'd just be asking for a leak and dead motherboard.
no it won't fit over it as the 7/16" is slightly larger in diameter.. you'd want 3/8" tubing.

EDIT: gir beat me.

So I would also need two 7/16" to 3/8" adapters and 3/8" tubing?
