How to: Wii Homebrew Guide

I was supprised to not see a wii homebrew guide here, so I decided to make one.

DISCLAIMER : Even though this should not brick your wii, their is the chance that it may. If it does, it is your own fault.

Also, nintendo sometimes releases updates to the wii. Don't download them unless you are sure that it will not mess up your homebrew. I updated my wii and my homebrew is still there, but don't push your luck.

How to install Homebrew on Your Wii

Step 1: If you don't have a copy of Twilight Princess for Wii, borrow/rent it.

Step 2: Borrow/buy an SD card. (if you don't have one.)

Step 3: Download WiiBrew SD installer and install it to your SD card.
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Wii_Brew_SD_...er_for_Windows

Step 4: Put the SD card in your wii, and copy the twilight hack to your wii memory. (note: you will have to delete any other TP save files already on your wii.)

Step 5: Run twilight princess and load the file. In my game , I walked backwards to activated the hack, but it might be different for you. (Ill try to find out when i update my guide.)

Step 6: The hack will run. Just press the 1 button on your wii remote to go through the different screens.

Step 7: Your wii should restart, and there should be a new channel. The Homebrew Channel. If its not there, you did something wrong. Try a different save file or maybe your wii just can't be homebrewed.

Make your wii play DVDs

Now, as many of you know, the wii ships with a DVD player. But, this feature is disabled. Here's how to enable your wii to play DVDs.

Step 1: If you already have the Homebrew Channel, use the Homebrew Browser to install DVDx Installer. If not, you need to install the Homebew Channel first.

Step 2: Run DVDX Installer. Click on Normal Install.

Step 3: Install mplayer. I know it is available in the homebrew browser but it appears that it dosn't support DVD playback. So you have to install it manually. To do this, download mplayer and copy the whole file from your PC to the apps folder on the wii sd card.

Step 4: Insert a DVD and start up mplayer. You should be able to play DVDs now. Have fun.

(If you are having any problems following this guide please PM me.
