Anybody still homebrewiing? I just got a Wii for my son but would love the DVD capability, how is this going still a community? I am assuming I have the most recent firmware, is the Twilight deal still an option?

Adding DVD could get tricky on new Wii's as they are not physically removing DVD reading capability from new Wii's.

This also means no disk backups and you will have to set up a USB loader for game backups (which by the way is incredible).

Actually, you can put homebrew on 4.2 now. I've done it myself. At first I was holding back on the 4.2 update since I didn't want to brick my console (I already had homebrew on 4.1), but that changed when working guides for homebrewing 4.2 started popping up on the net.

After you successfully install homebew, you can install/use mplayerxxx to play dvds.
Wiihacks.com forums will have more of what you need to know/do than here.

Yes I understand this and have done this to my wii. Anyone who already has a wii would not have any problems.

New Wii's are being made with the disk drives physically disabled from being able to read normal DVD's. Wii games are not on DVD format disks they are on Wii Optical Disk's.

But anyone having problems should definently go to wiihacks.com. They show you how to do everything.
