are my cards the same?

well I ordered another 8800gt alpha dog... heres the one I have



a guy showed me a pic of the same one I had but I ended up with this



will they look the same once the cover is off? can I sli them? I am kinda pissed now because of this

and I am not sure if I should request a refund

They are the exact same, the only diference is the heatsink is shaped a little differently. You can definitely sli them.

so for watercooling the block will be in the same exact spot?

So return it. If the person showed you one item before you bought it, then shipped you a different item (regardless of how comparable it is) without clearing it with you first, that's false advertising, and you should be entitled to your money back.

Well if you got a full cover block chances are that some of the parts will not fit correctly. Capacitors might get in the way and such.
