Hi there, I do know what I'm talking about.

Your suggestion that a speaker system is a "joke" because of the label applied to it makes zero sense to me. Just as I can find you cheapo "computer" speaker systems I can also find a bounty of junk "home theater" systems that also sound like rubbish. Similarly, there are products from both categories that sound very nice.

I do have a "home" audio setup - An E-Mu 0404 DAC and/or a Revox B225 CDP feeding balanced into a Samson S700 power amp, which drives a pair of Sansui SP-3000 towers and a Polk PSW10 subwoofer. Yes, it sounds a lot better than my computer speakers (Klipsch ProMedia 2.0s and the PSW10, still fed by the 0404). However, the computer system is very listenable and far from what I'd consider a joke - it also makes a lot less heat and uses a lot less power than the big rig.

There are different applications where different types of systems are appropriate. To make a blatant generalization that dismisses one of them as worthless is not a wise decision, I think.

He has a point, he is just stating it rudely. He assumes we're all idiots.

Pc Speakers are "crappy" when compared to expensive bookshelf setups. On the other hand, who is going to spend 600 bucks on a 5.1 bookshelf setup vs. 200 for a Logitech 5.1 system except for audiophiles. Truth is, the higher end pc speakers are very good for how they are priced, and more than adequate for an average pc user/music listener.

P.S. Before you assume we're dimwits and criticize our knowledge, I suggest you start using some proper grammar rather than that of 2nd grader. It might possibly make you seem like less of an idiot.

ha ha ha

I actually have my computer hooked up to my 200 dollar el cheapo sound system in my room, and I am not going to complain about it. I spend enough money on making my games run fast and look good... I guess I can't afford to make them sound good either lol

its kind of silly to compare apples to oranges... Truth be told Z5500's at 160 bucks sound amazing for the money. Im not sure what you would offer up as an alternative for that kind of dough?
