Which architecture do you like most?

Thread Starter
Well , im curious to know which architecture do you think is best out of Nvidia's Unified Shader architecture or ATI's Superscalar , Terascale architecture ?

I personally like ATI's because theres more lol , and imagine a crysis optimised for ATI's architecture , that would be amazing , i think they can make it look better if they optimise games for ATI's cards , they are more futureproof in my eyes .

Anyway, forget what i think , What do you think?

yeah nvidia all the way, just a case of quality vs quantity.

ATi - moving faster into smaller dies (40nm), more power efficient cards (4670), and DX10.1

At the moment, my preference is leaning towards ATi simply because I'm supporting the small guy. I guess architecture never really concerned me because I simply just get the bang for the buck. I spent $200 total on a HD3850+HD4850 this year. There's simply nothing you can say to that.

ATI can fit 800 SPs on half the die size as nVidia's 216 SP die at a lower price and win, raping nVidia in AA.

I like ATI's architecture way better because its simply a better architecture. nVidia is dealing with all kinds of heat and cost issues with their GT200 architecture, while ATI is deciding when to start cutting their prices so as to no devalue their product.

ATI is getting set to release their RV 775 to combat the 55nm refresh of GT200. That means the 4870 equivalent of the RV775 design will likely be faster than a GTX 280. I'm voting for the one that gets the same amount of work done in half the space tyvm.

nVidia's, because more games are optimised for it and it works a lot better in Linux (though that can be attibuted to drivers).

though ATI's is superior when it comes down to which architecture is most cost efficient to produce.

I've always liked ATI better, I think ATI cards are actually more powerful, but slower.

Technically ATI's architecture is currently superior overall. That doesn't mean I have to like it though. Surprised at some uneducated and even off topic responses here.

That's my understanding as well, but Nvidia wins in the marketing category. CUDA seems to be more popular, and most of the big ticket games have the Nvidia logo on them.

With that said, you can't go wrong with either of them right now.
