Raid Questions

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
Im about to set up my first raid array but I'm still a pretty big noob in this area and wouldn't mind some help/suggestions. I am confused as to which raid controller to use, but first here's the setup;

2 150 GB Raptors in raid 0 for OS
3 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F1 in raid 0 for storage

Based on this setup, are there any recommendations for a controller? As far as price goes, I would like to keep it under 500 however, the lower the better. Thanks for your help guys

Unless you really want fast bendwidth an onboard RAID controller could take care of either set up just fine. I would get the three samsungs personally. Otherwise arcena makes good raid controllers with multiple drives, rocket raid is good for two, like the raptors you described. That money could be better spent on a back IMO.
