What is the best PSU fo rmy build?

Thread Starter
I have a antec 1200 case, got here yesterday! Problem is i did not think about the PSU until i went to install it. Here i realized cutting the PUS corner was a bad idea. I have a 25$ CheapO Psu that i had to take apart and bend/stretch out to make it to the Mobo p4 and 20+4 sockets. What is a good psu that has length and SLI friendly that is modular?

For your system the first PSU that comes to mind is the Corsair 620HX. It's modular and can handle 2x9600GT's in SLI.

Length and Modular, then I would say Corsair HX-1000. (Modular, SLI/CrossFire, 5yr Warranty, 80%+ efficiency.)

I got the HX-620 a couple of days ago (Haven't installed yet) and its pretty compact.

The 750 Enigma8750 suggested is the TX-750 which is not modular.
The HX-1000 on the other hand will last even loooooooonger again.

I have the 900 and an HX620.

Cables are more than long enough. I was even able to hide the ATX 12V cable behind the motherboard, as well as all the other cables. Reaching the top drive bays isn't a problem either.

Not sure about the 1200 though.

And I believe it can handle more than 2x 9600GT's in SLi.

I just got the PCP&C 750w Silencer Quad.. and it's simply a great PSU. they are rated to be able to run two 8800GTX's in SLI. witch means SLI 9600, 9800GTX, 8800GT(S), and even GTX260 in SLI.. are all able to be pushed with this PSU. I've seen many many people on this forum with the PCP&C Silencer Quad 750w that are running GTX 260 SLI... and have no problems. thats what made me choose it, as I already have one. and want a second. It's running very strong so far. I'd highly recommend it so far.. it's much more stable than my Corsair HX520.. but that was the 520. I bet the 750 would be pretty good.

A soild 500w modular psu should be fine to handle your SLI rig. With minor upgrades in mind, I would go for Corsir 520HX or Corsair 620HX.

Looks like the Corsir 620HX would be the candidate to go with for me.

I recommend the HX520. I use it for my 4870 and it requires 2 pci-e 6pin plugs and it powers it now problem, So Im sure you could use it for two 9600 or 9800's.

But I would also say spend the extra doe and go with either the 620 or 1000 if you plan upgrading in the future to something like the GTX295 or sumthin.
