In hindsight, Apple’s announcement yesterday that it was pulling out of the Macworld Expo should have come as no surprise. Ever since the 2007 Macworld where Jobs announced the iPhone, Apple’s emphasis has clearly been shifting towards consumer electronics and away from personal computers. To get the iPhone out the door, they took developers away from the OS X team & delayed Leopard 6 months. They even took the word “Computer†out of their company’s name. At WWDC this year the process accelerated — it was all iPhone all the time. And now, after 2009 Apple won’t even bother showing up at the Macworld conference. What does this mean to Mac developers?

There's a lot more money in marking up a mp3 player 400% then a computer where they might get 25%.

My God. I thought I was the only one. I don't care if you're a guy, marry me because you're not a robot.

I think MP3s appeal to a larger crowd than PCs also. People updgrade their MP3s often but with PCs many are fine as long as they can check their emails.

Ironically, there are a lot of sound engineers (my brother amongst them) that use Macs to make music...which is then turned into mp3s...which people then listen to on their iPods.

They are doing the last MacExpo this year because they say consumers don't go those conventions as they used to do and since their products have gained popularity this year they don't need it anymore. Steve Jobs is not attending because of some sort of health problem? That's what I read over the internet.
