242 / 234 * 100 = 103% which is a ∆3% difference. Maybe you did your math wrong and hit a 4 instead of a 3 and then went on to accidentally press "0" two times. Either that or m$ is marking prices up 400% as well.
You can't take two different MP3s and compare their prices directly. The Zune has a bigger screen, FM tuner, and 802.11g/b. But the point is that the production cost to sale cost for MP3s is much lower than for a PC, as well as having less miscellaneous costs like technical support.

Oh, hi, I've been expecting you.

I never said that other companies didn't mark up their prices. I'm sure they do as well. Microsoft wouldn't be making MP3 players if they weren't a cash cow. I know you want to quote the whole thread but please keep it on topic and friendly. I want to see a mac news thread that doesn't need to be closed

The Zune has the same resolution, just the screen is bigger. The Wi-fi feature is pretty much useless imo. And a FM Tuner... *sighs*... why even by a media player if you're going to use the FM Tuner.

It comes down to preference.

Find me Windows XP for 350$

Now find me an operating system that can do everything it does. I give you a 1000$ budget.

Just saying they're very different

But the FM tuner is useful for news and stuff, and the bigger screen is much better for movies.

I don't own either anymore though. Sold both so that the next phrase could exist.

I'm on my Archos 605 right now lol.

And hell, half you apple haters have no reason to hate it, 1/4 of you have insignificant reasons such as saying it doesnt have right click, or it costs too much (which is ALL relative and an opinion), and the other 1/4 are just blind fanboys.. .

Ok I have a buddy who works for Apple and I have discussed this with him a couple of times from different points of view. The price thing yeah that is a lame excuse for the hardware inside some of those Macs you would pay a fortune for outside of the package so I am with you there. Mac does techinically have a right click it requires you to hold the apple key and click. I have also discussed with him the idea of Mac gaming, and here is were it get fun for me. Apple has never had the intent to make a gaming compatible machine, they go after the "artist" and minimalist's or the people that cannot seem to navigate the hard GUI of Vista(which is crap because nothing has changed in Windows for a long time now) Apple doesnt care about the gamer they have never seen us as that big of a market, I hate windows alot but I hate apple and linux alot more. I am not a fanboy I use windows because it works best for me. Anybody who cares to know Macs primary audience is pretty much hollywood. everyone else is their secondary audience. Also my reason for hating Apple is that I find the GUI to be rather childish and I hate proprietary anything. Also I hate the lack of cooling in their builds as well as how closely together everything has to be. I also dislike the fact that what they offer as a desktop(unless you buy a Mac Pro) is in fact a laptop that is built like a monitor.

Good point about the zune having more (useless, in my opinion) features. That does say something about the price.

vista is $270 now at newegg. Last time I checked it was $320, and on release it was $400.

Still too much, of course.

$89.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116480

$99.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116485

$169.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16832116213

Most people are going to be using Premium anyways, a far cry from $270.

I thought news and talk were on AM. That's all I listen to, and I'm always on AM and not FM.
OS price: You can get Home retail for 120$ on newegg, and Home Basic for 99$. But really it's not like you can buy OSX and put it on a custom PC anyway. They could probably jack their prices 200% because they still are the only ones with a complete (used loosely) OS that's easily modifiable, installable, and compatible. I'm not the only one waiting for Linux to get more compatible however, it's currently the closest to Windows IMO, just needs to be more compatible with everything.

FM: But AM is all '' We only exist in case of a national crysis, in the meanwhile listen to FM'' I actually can't listen to the same songs on a loop and need to listen to something new once in a while. It's useful for trips where it's hard to update your library also. And either way there's no AM on any MP3 player I know of so you can't really complain about the Zune having only FM.
