Cant reach 3.6ghz q6600

Thread Starter
I have my q6600 running on a DFI LT x48 ddr2-800 ram.

Right now, i have it running at 3ghz (333fsb / 333/800 strap)
It seems as to no matter how much voltage i try using at 400fsb / 400/800 strap worker 4 stops working in prime immediately. was hoping i could get some suggestions from you all.

I have tried setting the cpu volt all the way up to 1.43
northbridge volt to 1.4+

Any other ways on getting it to stabilize ? i am running on the default bios, i dont know if a bios upgrade would do much.

The full system specs are..

DFI LT x48
q6600
8 gigs Patriot DDR2-800 (4-4-4-12 / 2.1 volt)
2x ATI Radeon 4870's
6 1 terabyte drives (raid-5)
X-fi sound blaster
Xigmatic Air cooling

Its probably just a bad batch, event he most recent batch of 6600's have been hitting walls at 3.4 and then anything past that takes 1.6vcore + to get anything stable. So sorry man = /

Just keep the Vcore under 1.55 and you'll be good (unless your temps suck)

What stepping is your Q6600? Run CPU-Z to check

Yes, what have you tried? 8x? It would be in your best interest to break that 3ghz mark for your cards sake.

Try a 380 FSB at 3.42GHz. Dont worry about trying to run the ram 1:1 with a 400 FSB, you will just hold your OC back. You could always try pushing the ram to DDR2 915 5-5-5-15. Thats what I am running with a Q6600, P5Q motherboard, and some G.Skill 2x2Gb DDR2 800 ram; All in a recent build.

His temps will sore at 1.5v. He shouldn't need more then 1.45 to achieve 3.4ghz. If temps are a problem, lapping both the CPU and cooler is an option.
