Cant reach 3.6ghz q6600 - Page 5

Alright, just figured i would throw in a quick update. Finnaly got it decently stable at 3.6 ghz. Enough atleast for a 15 minute PRIME95 and a CPU-Z Validation As you can see the vcore is way up. and most of the other voltages are too, gonna try to fine tune it a bit. Temps i guess arent that bad, i would have to get a lapped true or IFX to hold these temps around 42c idle 70-75c load. I'll see if i can 24/7 this with better cooling, and dropping the voltages some.

However just out of curisoity. I've been hearing the q9550 is pretty good with 4.0 overclocks, and was wondering which CPU would be the best for the buck running, FRAPS mostly. thanks once again.

Have you lapped the CPU yet? And 8 multi is more stable then 9 at higher clocks.

No, it is not lapped. i should lap it. However it does seem that whenever i do 450*8 my system does not seem to want to post. i will try again after my girlfriend goes to sleep. shes mad that i'm not giving her any attention. So i told her i was cheating on her with the PS2 Port.

I Probably wont do any lapping till i get the IFX-14 (and the only reason i am going with that is that the store down the way isint going to be selling them anymore and selling one to me for 30$ which is cheaper then the 65$ TRUE 120)

Anyway. I will prolly try 450*8 with
1.55v cpu v
1.4 vtt
1.5 NB and doing the GTL Ref Voltage

You upped the Southbridge voltage? With that stupendous amount of hard disks, it may struggle a bit. I found my P5Q Deluxe needed more SB voltage to deal with my old RAID0 and RAID1 array.

Well, lets see how it goes with

CPU 1.55v
DRAM 2.10v
NB 1.50v
SB 2.0v
VTT 1.40v

GTL 1/2 97
GTL 0/3 97
NB GTL 100

2.0v for a SB is a lot!

Well this is pretty much an update for all the people that was helping me out.
I finnaly got stable at 3.7GHZ.

and the validation
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=469520

I got her to boot into 3.9.ghz to give it a shot got her in on 1.5v then as excited as i was, forgot to get a validation of it, and shot for 4ghz(even if unstable just to see if i could) no dice, so i dropped back down to 3.7 where i am stable at currently.

Altho i am not using the same chip as before. My dad had put together a q6600 rig awhile back and while he was out on a buisness trip i drive over to his place and replaced the chips ;o But on the last chip i was seeing 3.4 being stable.

Trying to see if i can get this stable on air at 3.8
