Gigabyte EP45-DQ6

Thread Starter
I just bought a open-box Gigabyte EP45-DQ6. It has quad-lan (have no idea why) but it was cheap on E-Bay.

Anyway is this a good board to overclock a Q9550? I plan on going no further than 3.2 GHz.

Also should I try to set up a Raid 0 with 2-250GB Barracudas using the onboard Raid controller? Is the on-board controller good enough?

Thanks.

It should overclock just fine dude. But check out this review if you'd like.

Onboard Raid 0 is meh.. Plus a good RAID card will have it's own ram, if it doesn't than you might as well go with onboard.

Also depending on your budget, it can get pretty pricey. But, I'm sure you know that already. Take a look at some options at newegg.ca

Hey Todd,

Those Realtek 8111c NICs can be teamed together. And provided you have a switch supporting Link Aggregation (LACP) you can pump out 500MB/s over quad gig

I just bought this board... mostly for that reason. Haven't gotten it yet... so excited!

I have the older brother .. X48-DQ6 and love it. Highest stable FSB it ~493mhz.. Im sure the P45's will do much better. They should fit, just about any 45nm CPU perfectly [for FSB support over 500mhz].

3.2? Why stop there? Go for 4GHz.
