Folding in My Name? - Page 2

Thanks for the heads-up

This all made me very tempted to finally go ahead and get the SMP client up and running, the current latest beta. Seems it works well

I had some trouble getting the thing going, but once I installed it onto D:\\ and no longer in C:\\Program Files (x86) it worked flawlessly.

I made two shortcuts; one to start the thing, and one to do configuration only. Now I'm tempted to get my 4870x2 doing some work.

You guys know if there any new GPU2 releases that take advantage of ATI stream and would crunch more PPD than say 2 months ago?

Well here is a new GPU2 that came out like two to four days ago. I suppose to help ATI cards with better ppd. I haven't tried it because I have my 3870 in my folding rig that is in a team ...And I can't afford any down time tiil the end of the month.

Got to take that first place.....

Thanks again, got it up and running.

Some interesting bits though:

4870 core 1 runs at 99%, but still at the 'idle' clockspeed of 507MHz. Core 2 jogs along at 10% usage.

I feel if ATI would update Stream drivers to bump up clocks to their load operating speed (750/900) PPD would increase like 50% Looks like ATI has a lot of room for improvement here

The reason you shot up 200 spots is because our page didn't update stats for about a week straight. When it finally did, BAM...200 spots.

I am guessing you were going by the stats in your sig, right? If so, that explains it.

Yes, by stats in in my postbit.

Anyways, as for the GPU clock, I think all we need to nudge the clock is some 3D app that's very very light on GPU, if only to push it into 3D mode. When I am in WoW and go back to the desktop, CCC shows proper load clocks.

A simple Direct3D window that does nothing but show a blank screen should be enough

Edit: Even with WoW running, the GPU client Stcreams now, % updating so much faster now.

Overclock in rivatuner and it changes the idle clocks. Atleast it did for me so it idles in 780/980
